Black Momma Cat’s Babies Cross the Rainbow Bridge, So Her Wholesome Owners Foster a Ginger Kitten for Her, and She Instantly Adopts Him and Makes Him Part of the Family

Being a momma cat is hard work, no matter how independent your itty bitty kitties claim to be. Momma cats have to teach their kittens how to drink water without it getting into their noses. Momma cats teach their kittens how to communicate in a way that will make their silly humans understand their requests. Momma cats have a lot to do to prepare their kitties for their long life of shenanigans. Which makes this story so much more heart-wrenching.

This momma cat was so ready to be a parent, but it didn't quite work out. We don't know why her babies passed away, but we do know that she was filled with a desire to raise them. We know it because when her owners fostered an adorable ginger kitten for her, it took her less than a moment to take the kitten in and make him part of her little family.

    We think it's a beautiful thing, the way that some cats are so motherly that they are willing to take in animals that are not their own under their care. We don't know that we would have been able to do what she did if it happened to us, which makes what she did all the more ameowzing.

    One look, and you can tell that this now momma cat is in love. She saw this baby, and she instantly knew that it was going to be hers. And hers it better be. You said "fostered", we know, but you better be adopting now that you see the bond that has been created between these two.

    Glyphpunk 4d ago I had a senior rescue cat that came from the streets/countryside. He was as sweet as could be. When we adopted a kitten later that year he immediately started grooming and snuggling the kitten and it was the sweetest thing (and surprising from a male cat).     RunningInto Bedlem • 4d ago I have a black cat that was dumped in a box with a mess of kittens. He was a runt, the other kitties were notably bigger. When I took him to the vet the first time they gave him a totally different age than his 'siblings' and told me he was likely from a completely different litter, and that cats from that area essentially parent as a colony, he was basically an adoptee. He's a good boy

    cutestslothevr⚫ 4d ago Most mama animals see a baby of vaguely correct size and shape and immediately start caring for it. Cats will even babysit each other's litters when a mom needs some time away. Sad the black cat's baby died, but the little replacement pumpkin is lucky to have a mom primed to give him some love. 411 Reply
